Hi. I’m Richard. I grew up in Brisbane and graduated optometry in 1981. I’ve lived and worked in Rockhampton, Emerald and Moree. I moved to Hervey Bay and established my practice in 1989. My special interests in optometry include childrens’ vision, diagnosing and co-managing eye disease with ophthalmologists, contact lenses and helping people with low vision who have lost their vision as a result of eye disease. For me, Honest, Friendly, Professional is not just a business catch phrase but a way of life.

Life outside of the optometry practice is rather full with my time divided between our rather large family, Rotary, and Church. If I had more time, we’d also going sailing on our catamaran which is hidden under a layer of dust in the shed.

Pronounced ‘Twin

Since graduating from Masters of Optometry at Queensland University of Technology, I have enjoyed practising as an Optometrist alongside my associates at Richard Watt Optometrist.

I love how rewarding my occupation is and I have a particular interest in using my therapeutic endorsement to manage acute ocular conditions such as the sudden onset

of red, sore eyes and other more chronic ocular conditions such as dry eye management, I have a strong passion for paediatric optometry especially myopia management.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time doing yard maintenance, exercising until my hearts content and spending time with my two fur-babies , Toby and Macy. You will be lucky to find me idle, I’m always up to something different

Hi! I’m Megan, I grew up in New Zealand and graduated from the University of Auckland in 2004 with a Bachelor of Vision Science, Masters in Optometry.  In 2014 I studied for a Postgraduate Certificate in Ocular Therapeutics from the Australian College of Optometry.

I relocated from NZ and made Melbourne home for 10 years.  After a holiday in Noosa in 2018, I knew I wanted to move to Queensland and in Dec/January 2020 whilst on a working contract in Hervey Bay my heart knew this gorgeous town would be my next place to call home.

I’ve had the great privilege of working in many settings and locations all around NZ and Australia and meeting incredible people along the way.  I’ve gained fulfilment working in private and corporate Optometry as well as in the hospital setting.  I was also self-employed doing fly-in-fly-out all around NZ and Australia for many years. Some of the locations I have worked over the years include Coffs Harbour, Esperance, Cairns, Mackay, Gladstone, Wagga Wagga, Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington, Nelson and Blenheim.

I enjoy all aspects of general Optometry, diagnosing and co-managing eye disease with Ophthalmologists and all aspects of general & presbyopic soft contact lenses fitting.

I pride myself on taking a heart centered, honest, kind, friendly and professional approach, not only at work, but also in life.  I believe you reap what you sow, more than you sow, later than you sow it and we are all here on earth to be as kind as we can to as many people as we can.

Away from work my time is divided between Church commitments, kayaking, ocean swims, cooking, reading, writing and spending time with family & friends.
